(For the Beauty of the Earth)’을 필두로 ‘독일 민요 모음곡’, ‘고향의 봄’, 평화 기원곡 ‘도나 노비스 파쳄(Dona Nobis Pacem)’ 등이 이어진다.

Harmony for Peace: Yemus Concert Marks 81st UN Day
Global folk songs, Korean classics, and masterworks unite on one stage
Professional virtuosos join citizen choirs to bridge cultural divides
SEOUL — Professional performing arts organization Yemus and the Family Empathy Choir will present a joint concert, "Our Stories Sung Together," on Saturday, October 24, at Doam Hall in the Seoul Arts Center, Pyeongchang-dong, to commemorate the 81st United Nations Day.
Marking the 16th regular concert for Yemus and the third for the Family Empathy Choir, the two-part, 100-minute program is designed to bridge cultural, national, and generational boundaries through music.
Part 1 opens with John Rutter’s "For the Beauty of the Earth," followed by German folk songs, the beloved Korean classic "Spring in My Hometown," and the peace prayer "Dona Nobis Pacem." Instrumental interludes include Monti's "Csárdás" for violin, a piano duo performing "Pas de Deux," and Debussy's "Clair de Lune" on the harp.
Part 2 highlights global solidarity with the "Folk Songs around the World" suite, alongside Korean art songs such as Kim Hyo-geun's "Even If Life Deceives You" and Choi Young-seop's "Missing Mt. Geumgang." Franz Lehár's operetta aria "You Are My Everything" and sacred hymns "Grace" and "Glory, Glory, Hallelujah" round out the second half.
Hosted by tenor and Sejong University professor Wi Jeong-min, the production is directed by Yoon Sang-ho, with musical direction by Jeong Sun-do. The artist roster features mezzo-soprano Hwang Hye-jae, tenor Kuk Yun-jong, baritone Kim Tae-il, violinist Kim Hye-jeong, harpist Na Hyun-seon, and a brass quintet led by hornist and Czech Cultural Institute Director Mischa Emanovsky.
Adding community depth to the ensemble, the Family Empathy Children’s Choir, the Yemus Chamber Orchestra, and the Zion Choir—comprising North Korean defectors—will join the professional soloists on stage.
"By weaving distinct voices into a single harmony, this concert celebrates mutual respect and creates a space where hearts connect beyond borders," said Yemus Director Kim Jae-eun.
